Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1: 2-6
There is much good news to share this month! For two days at the end of April, I was able to spend some time working at a church in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is always so uplifting to see what other churches are doing and to see God working in the hearts and lives of so many. This trip was no exception. The Open Gate Christian Fellowship of Cambodia is so blessed and absolutely thriving! In just over 10 years it has grown from a small house church of 12 members to a national church of nearly 1500 members with congregations throughout the country! For my small part, I was involved in leading one of their quarterly Teachers Seminars. These seminars serve as wonderful opportunities for Sunday School teachers from provinces around the country to come together for three days of prayer, praise, fellowship, and some learning. Much of my time was spent training these 46 teachers in different approaches and teaching techniques for Sunday School. They learned best by doing which means they spent much of the time singing songs, playing games, and enjoying good Christian fellowship, while at the same time taking away some good ideas for their classrooms.
This past week also marked the beginning of yet another term here! And it is so awesome to see God at work! The hot season here in Thailand is very hot with temperatures of at least 100 degrees every day for a few weeks. Despite this, we were not deterred and spent one of the hotter days (I believe it was around 110) pounding the pavement and handing out flyers. Two hours and 2,000 flyers later as we were recovering in the air-conditioned office, the phones started ringing. And thus began another successful term. Registration week was great with around 45 new students and 60 returning student. This is all very excitingthe classrooms are full every night and people are having a great time, this of course, includes teachers as well J
Finally this month, I would like to introduce you to yet another student. Her name is Aw and she has been Christian for a few months. This is her second term studying with me, and shes very happy and excited to have found our teaching center. Aw is a motivated student as well as an eager Christian. She has shared that she felt this teaching center with its Christian teachers and fellowship groups was an answer to many prayers. And she can clearly see and articulate that God led her here for a very good reason. Praise God for this! And please pray for Aw as she continues on her journey of faith!
Thank you for all of your prayers and support for myself and most importantly, for all of the lives that are being touched through the work and ministry here. Please continue to pray for Pooh, Oh, Kung, Jo, Aw and all of the other students God has led to be a part of this ministry.
