The statue of Liberty was a "gift" from the people of France. It was intended
to be completed in 1876, in celebration of the American Declaration of Independence.
The dedication of the centennial gift-October 28,1886-was ten years late.
The government did not have the funds for the pedestal. The rich also failed
to raise enough funds to complete the pedestal. Newspaper editorial pages
made harsh criticism and challenged that every American should donate $1.
It was the average American person donating $1 that allowed the pedestal
to be completed in April, 1886.
Like Lady Liberty, building God's pedestal in Thailand can likewise be accomplished
with small contributions from many people.
